It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.~Deming

More quotes that represent my current state of mind.

We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, or the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of choiceless-ness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or adrift. We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.

~Joseph Epstein

And yet, within her anxiety, secured there like a gemstone, she carries the cool and curious power of occasionally being able to see the world vividly. Clarity bursts upon her a spray of little stars. She understands this, and thinks of it as one of the tricks of consciousness; there is something almost luxurious about it.. The narrative maze opens and permits her to pass through. She may be crowded out of her own life -- she knows this for a fact and has always know it -- but she possesses, as a compensatory gift, the startling ability to draft alternative versions.

~Carol Shields

It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come.

So many thoughts these last couple of days...brain over load. I feel like there is a crack forming under my feet...and I am just sitting and watching it grow.

I have no fear of it...it's just change...yes, it's change once again, an old friend.

I know that this break in the flow of art is important to see through.

I am looking for something, I am getting ready to grow and change again.

I am simmering...comfortably for the moment. Content to see how it happens, this metamorphosis, this growth...this simple change.

What will my interior landscape

look like when I can see it again clearly?

What views, what heights or depths will the work flow from then?

It's intriguing to be sure...

I'll keep you posted.

I hope you day is infused with

energy and light.

The Epstein quote is particularly valuable to me right now. Thanks. As for chnage -- I feel the same way. I'll keep watching to see how yours is going!

Ch ch changes! Change is good. Simmering is good. I was just talking to my dh about all this as I too feel like I am simmering and getting ready for a change. A new direction. Tis a good thing. Better than being stagnant. Happy Wednesday BK!

I liked the Epstein quote too! Change for me is difficult, yet also rewarding in the end. And choices - boy do we make choices everyday! I still like to think that my daughter chose my husband and I as her parents...

I so relate to the feeling of being in the midst of change. We've arrived in Portland and in the midst of a big one. I can't wait to see how this may inspire my writing.

I'm glad I visited you today. You always have thoughtful things to share and they always seem to connect with me (and others.)

This last year has taught me a lot about the inevitability of change and how you can accept it, use it to your advantage, grow. It was a bit of a hard lesson to learn and I wish I would have learned it earlier, but there you have it.

I hope your changes bring you artistic and personal growth.

Whew...OK...
Cynthia...if I had any real knowledge of such things...I would like to think I am a person, a spirit...and Mate Man too...that we as beings were worthy choices for our children...all three of them. *sigh*
Kathy: I am glad to hear you completed your big trek! Now...about that Tillamok Cheese we talked about...
Lone: Thanks! I love your stories...it keeps me coming back...I like the way you find a way to teach history with uber cool stories.
And Pavel: Welcome BACK! Learning dosen't always come at the of best times in our lives...but I have found that it always comes...just in time. Understanding good, truly to your marrow...understanding... is the side affect of being well-schooled in the bad, I think.
Love to you my brotha!
Love to each of you in turn.
