No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does.

Quote in the title by: Christopher Morley (1890 - 1957)

This is our new addition to our family.
Being held by our youngest child, Max the "other artist in residence".
Tuefel Von Oz.
(German for Devil of OZ)

Oz with his punk rock t-shirt because it's cold here and he only has baby fur. He is 15 weeks old. His shirt says "Dog save the Queen" on it....too cute right? Click the link to see where I bought it, if you have a punk rock dog that needs outfitting.

This is Dallas also known around here as Mr. Wiggles. It's funny Oz's eyes are dark warm brown, and Dallas's eyes are bright light blue. I thought it was funny that the flash made their eyes like this so I left it alone.
We didn't name Dallas...we rescued him a couple years back and he came with the name...he comes to Stinky and Mr.McWiggles now.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
Groucho Marx (1895 - 1977)

We went out to look around our new state a few weeks back and found a huge flea market, being that we are southern fried flea market addicts we went in.
Walking around we came across this lady who was a breeder of small dogs. A very nice breeder not a puppy mill.
She had lots of designer puppies and Chi-hua-a-hua's and one little lonely Carin Terrier (like from the wizard of OZ). He was just sitting there looking very much like the ugly step child when we locked eyes. It was love at first sight for both of us.

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.
Josh Billings (1856 - 1950)

We looked at him and cooed and went on our way because he was soooo expensive. The rest of the way round the huge flea market ...I thought about the dog, I talked about the dog, I whined that I had to have the dog, I knew he needed me as much as I needed him...I could just tell.
Mate Man can say NO and mean it. But this time I wore him down and he gave in. We went back and told the lady we wanted to see him up close and all that.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

That was it I tell you. I held him and he looked into my eyes and I knew he was my dog. The one fur person who would love me best of all.
Mate Man pony-ed up the cash and we took him home.
He is just about the cutest and most terrible little beast ever. I have spent most of the last week running behind him and taking away stuff he can't chew. Being that he is small, he has found and delivered every scrap of paper and trash that ever fell behind anything in this house. The studio had to be puppy proofed...I tell you, he is into everything. He is so proud of himself too...it's funny as hell.
After two weeks he is now fully potty trained and we are now working on tricks like sit, stay and so forth. He has the attention span of maybe two gnats right now.
It's all good.
I love my little man.
He has brought a bunch of joy into my very quite world.
I needed someone to take care of..I needed a baby.
I can't ever have anymore children (by birth) and I always wanted a bunch of kids...so I have fur people instead.
It's great...no collage education to pay for, and they eat scraps and think it's heaven. (not that I feed my dogs people food)

I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.

So, that's my post for today, no art for now...because I am finally working on the REAL commission for my favorite art patron. I can't show it to anyone but her for now. I am really happy with the progress though, and because it's so large, the enjoyment level is big because it's lasting a while. I love working BIG!

Have a great weekend everyone, I hope you are all warm, cozy and surrounded by love.

Can I just say "Awwwe Teufel is just too darn cute!!"

I missed my dog Zuzu, while we were away. Apparently, she missed us too, and is very sad when we leave, fasting and everything in protest. I remember those puppy years. We still have chew marks in chairs, our couch and other misc. things - (scar on my calf) etc. etc. but it is so worth it.

Dallas looks like a sweety too, tolerating the puppy. We've been thinking of adopting again.

Thank you Old Man Lincoln, I will have to stop by your blog and check it out too. :)

Cynthia,
I know Dallas is being so loving, he thinks we got the puppy for him. He is such a mother to the cat and now his puppy, it's very sweet.

Dinah,
did you name your tiny terors yet?
Haveing two babies must be so much MORE fun. *wicked grins*
