BAD! Kitty's End of the year Roundtable

" I Am"

***
Good Morning the day before the Christmas Holiday Day, here in the states and elsewhere.
Whew! what a mouthfull...
OK, Hey how ya'll doing this morning?

That better?

*grins*

So round these parts we don't ever set resolutions or make set in stone goals each year either.

We tend to reflect a bunch on what the last twelve months have been, what we learned from our experiences and like a house of scientist, dissect what the real issues were/are in our progress, path wise.

In fact we take on missions each year as a group and individually. The group ones we all talk about, as the year ends but....the personal ones, each person can share or not as they see fit.

We love to think of these talks as a round table of light warriors. It's really great when the Earth's own light is at it's lowest to charge our inner lanterns up real good, before beginning a new year long mission...well that's a no brainer, of course.

***

A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.
Gandhi (1869 - 1948)

***
We had one of those weekends, where people got used to being close up on each other, (again) with out each person having a given set schedule to follow and perform well at. Saturday was given over to going into the world and getting every. single . thing. done and quick, so that we don't have to go out into the world again until the madness subsides. Which won't be until after the Holiday returns and Super sales are made and had. Ahhhh the joys of stuff, of getting and giving more stuff...sweet capitalism...how it makes my ass twitch.

***

If a glimpse of the future is possible, it must come from an intimacy with the present clarified by the great works of the past.
Robert Kaplan

***

We Spent Sunday putting up our little tree, it's one of those pre-lit 4 foot tall, pull it out of the box and plug it in types. Really this works best for all of us...we don't celebrate the holiday as most folks do...we love giving gifts to each other! We don't buy anything except on special days. Birthdays, and Christmas. So, it's our time to have an excuse to party, and play at years end. The tree thing...eh, we can take it or leave it. We would never cut one down, anyway...we used to do that many years back...because that's what everyone does...set it up, look at it...take it down again...throw the once work of art tree in the dump. Ummm, after my awakening, I could no longer do this. ever. again.

That new choice happened at an end of the year round table...several moons back.

This year we have been talking about living. I mean the way we live, eat and need every day....money.

We have decided to build a recycled home that joins with the land instead of rests upon it. We have decided to find land and acquire it. Then we will work weekends or whatever and build a home into/with the land, one that takes care of us and takes nothing from the grid (power, water, ect.).

Then we will go live there.

As free Humans. Not slaves to the Grid of suck you dry til you die.

***

There are reveries so deep, reveries which help us descend so deeply within ourselves that they rid us of our history. They liberate us from our name. These solitudes of today return us to the original solitudes.
Gaston Bachelard (1884 - 1962)

***

We plan to start this project asap. If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, then you know what happens when we make choices in this home. Things begin to happen...quick. That's just how we roll.

Plans as I said before, are being made, and well laid.

Last years round table brought us to the conclusion that we would never be able to buy a home of our own on the west coast. So, we loaded up, (after a years research and work) and moved to Kentucky. Land of rolling hills and cheap land, and so many other great things I can't even tell you.

OK, so now we have been here, we have found employment, we have looked around.

***

The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens.
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 - 1926)

***

Now we know that we do not want to wait for the housing/mortgage crisis, as a matter of fact we don't want a mortgage at all. We want a home. We do not want to be slaves. This years round table has been about that fact and what options are open to people like us, who have bad credit, not a lot of money, and weird ideas about green living not just being about slapping some solar panels on a suburban home. (not that that's not wonderful, every one should do it) We want sustainable housing. I am a farmer, I want to grow my own food.

After growing my own daily food for more than a decade in a city environment, I can't stand to drive to the store for lettuce...and fruit. Are you kidding me?

***

There's more to being an environmentalist than occasionally signing an online petition and mailing your check to the Sierra Club. Really the most effective environmental actions you can take have to do with crafting your home and surroundings, your workplace decisions and your investment habits.
Alex Steffen

***

So, we are going to build a home, off grid, out of rammed earth used tires.

Plans and research on the property, home systems (electricity, water, heat, ect.) are being learned and researched, and building plans drawn up for feasibility studies. It's our right as humans to use our power of money and choice to shape our destiny. The Trumans are all about questioning authority, and making our own rules.
This years mission to is learn as much as possible, and find land.
That's all.
Anything we get done more than that will be gravy.
Our mission of course means that we need to be in good shape physically for this undertaking. So, part of my personal sub-mission to to re-acquire my old strength as much as possible, for the hard labor ahead.
Groovy baby.
So that's it in a nutshell from here in the blue grass.
I'll see you all again after the Holiday madness...with new art, no doubt.
A special word of thanks to all my art patrons out there, you know who you are, thank you for your support of this living artists...your purchases allowed me to create for yet another year. Thank you for supporting a living artist, may we all enjoy a great return on our investments in the coming years together.

Hope is a state of mind, not of the world . . . Either we have hope or we don't; it is a dimension of the soul, and it's not essentially dependent on some particular observation of the world or estimate of the situation. Hope is not prognostication. It is an orientation of the spirit, and orientation of the heart; it transcends the world that is immediately experienced, and is anchored somewhere beyond its horizons ... Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather and ability to work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed. The more propitious the situation in which we demonstrate hope, the deeper the hope is. Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.
Vaclav Havel

I end this post with the best wishes for everyone around the globe reading my words...and those who don't too. We as a family, hope that your lives are all richer in the ways that matter most in the coming year.

Happy Holidays to all,

Heather

This part of the post is from Monday 12/17/07:

Just one quote today friends, it's a busy time for everyone...and I need to rant a bit...just FYI)

***

I think that what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance's within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.
Joseph Campbell (1904 - 1987)
***

Please help keep living artists alive by buying art that resonates with you. If it's not my work...well, OK fine...*lip curl* but no, OK really...go find a real, live human (any where in the world) and buy some art from that living artist today. The work of art you buy today, could save two lives/souls...yours and the artists. Think about it.

There are links to amazing talented people on my side bar...blog roll whatever it's called. Honestly if it ain't my work that floats your boat, (don't leave til you at least give me a chance to see first!) then find some one who is a living creative soul and buy something that is more talisman/magic than a "gift" or art. Art is about soul, and I truly believe that every real artist, out there in the world, is looking to create, form and build...resonance. My work is about resonance, and I only figured that out recently while being interviewed for an newspaper interview about a show opening. She [the reporter] asked me what I was trying to express with my work to the viewer. Immediately I said, "resonance". "What does that mean?" She asked.

*internal sidebar aka as the Oh Shit! factor*

I tell you it's at moments like these that are small and unimportant (seemingly), that my most profound truths have been reviled. I scratched my head, and thought about it...well, yeah so what the hell did that mean?

It means I am talking to you, the viewer (taps microphone, is this thing on?).

*yes I said that out loud, it didn't get printed, hehe*

I am asking questions, showing my version of answers sometimes, and sometimes I am opening a door for you. I mean, when I created it [the art] it was about finding and opening that door for myself...now it's your turn....wanna take a spin?

A lot of people want and need to know what was the muse, or inspiration.

For just me I can usually say with a straight face...it was create or destroy something and soon, or else. Most of the time I am not thinking when I am working...except to solve problems and be a director of sorts. Once I feel the painting out, I go for it and figure out the 'what' of it later.

May I ask...What do you see?

There is an artist in the world some where right now that can make you want to know, make you want to open every door, every day... just in case...in your own life. There is a work of art that if you see and feel it and can own it, it will change your world. Simple. Fact. Art is. Magic.

That's way more fun than almost any other type of gift you can buy...with paper (not so much paper anymore) money.

So...just a random OCD thoughts for this morning, from me...

that ordinary crazy lady down the street....

who paints and creates

her own world every day...

wait for it....wait for it...

double back flip off the soapbox.

Ta-Da!

Nine out of ten doctors agree that buying original, one of a kind art work, will make your entire life a better place to be. Oh, and it'll make your smile brighter and more sexy too. (results may vary for different people)

See some of my art [doors/talismans] on auction and closing soon below.

*I am wearing a old Santa Hat today for going out in the world, and to keep my ears warm, I only get to wear my Santa Hat once a year!*

Just because I am going shopping today, I wear the hat, see....it's because I hate shopping, and this time of year makes my skin crawl with the hoards of people, bad parking and grouchy sales staff. So I wear the hat as a defense mechanism. People smile at me first. I remind them of the silliness of this whole thing, I know exactly what I need help with and I say please and thank you. *side note* If you are ever wearing a Santa hat while shopping in an attempt to keep yourself from wanting to knock people down in the mall....you must also be pleasant and have good manners...it's kinda like rule number one of Santa Hat wearing. Wouldn't want any first timers to go out and make their heads explode accidentally from not knowing the rules. Whew...glad I remembered that tid-bit.

*wicked grins*

Every move I make, has meaning. I am art.

Hahahahaha!

OK, now out into the snow and pick up the very last things on the list...and I did pack my handy timer, to keep things moving along.

Happy day to you!

My Daemon - From the Golden Compass

So, we went to see this movie over the weekend. It was good, I thought the story could use some tightening up, (I am a Major pain in the butt about scripts) but the kids loved it and the special effects were great. The sound track was over bearing-ly loud, but that could have been the movie theaters fault. The part I liked best (of course) was the fact that in their world your soul walked beside you in an animal form. I loved that idea so much!!! So, I found this little test on the website for the movie and here it is, my daemon. Take the little test about me to see if your opinion of me changes my daemon, and then take your own test to find out your own daemon. It's fun.

Have a great day everyone, and don't forget to scroll down one post to see the most current auctions, just in time for the Holidays.

Have a great day,

No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does.

Quote in the title by: Christopher Morley (1890 - 1957)

This is our new addition to our family.
Being held by our youngest child, Max the "other artist in residence".
Tuefel Von Oz.
(German for Devil of OZ)

Oz with his punk rock t-shirt because it's cold here and he only has baby fur. He is 15 weeks old. His shirt says "Dog save the Queen" on it....too cute right? Click the link to see where I bought it, if you have a punk rock dog that needs outfitting.

This is Dallas also known around here as Mr. Wiggles. It's funny Oz's eyes are dark warm brown, and Dallas's eyes are bright light blue. I thought it was funny that the flash made their eyes like this so I left it alone.
We didn't name Dallas...we rescued him a couple years back and he came with the name...he comes to Stinky and Mr.McWiggles now.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
Groucho Marx (1895 - 1977)
***
We went out to look around our new state a few weeks back and found a huge flea market, being that we are southern fried flea market addicts we went in.
Walking around we came across this lady who was a breeder of small dogs. A very nice breeder not a puppy mill.
She had lots of designer puppies and Chi-hua-a-hua's and one little lonely Carin Terrier (like from the wizard of OZ). He was just sitting there looking very much like the ugly step child when we locked eyes. It was love at first sight for both of us.

***
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.
Josh Billings (1856 - 1950)
***

We looked at him and cooed and went on our way because he was soooo expensive. The rest of the way round the huge flea market ...I thought about the dog, I talked about the dog, I whined that I had to have the dog, I knew he needed me as much as I needed him...I could just tell.
Mate Man can say NO and mean it. But this time I wore him down and he gave in. We went back and told the lady we wanted to see him up close and all that.

***
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
~Unknown
***
That was it I tell you. I held him and he looked into my eyes and I knew he was my dog. The one fur person who would love me best of all.
Mate Man pony-ed up the cash and we took him home.
He is just about the cutest and most terrible little beast ever. I have spent most of the last week running behind him and taking away stuff he can't chew. Being that he is small, he has found and delivered every scrap of paper and trash that ever fell behind anything in this house. The studio had to be puppy proofed...I tell you, he is into everything. He is so proud of himself too...it's funny as hell.
After two weeks he is now fully potty trained and we are now working on tricks like sit, stay and so forth. He has the attention span of maybe two gnats right now.
It's all good.
I love my little man.
He has brought a bunch of joy into my very quite world.
I needed someone to take care of..I needed a baby.
I can't ever have anymore children (by birth) and I always wanted a bunch of kids...so I have fur people instead.
It's great...no collage education to pay for, and they eat scraps and think it's heaven. (not that I feed my dogs people food)
***
I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts.

So, that's my post for today, no art for now...because I am finally working on the REAL commission for my favorite art patron. I can't show it to anyone but her for now. I am really happy with the progress though, and because it's so large, the enjoyment level is big because it's lasting a while. I love working BIG!

Have a great weekend everyone, I hope you are all warm, cozy and surrounded by love.

Hey! I DO Landscapes!
This is the very first landscape I have ever done. I used the rock elements in the commission work upcoming and just did it. I am really pleased that I now can say I do landscapes. No more monkey on my back I can't wait to do the bigger version on this, totally different of course because this is a practice work. But I am so proud of myself I could burst!
Yippee for me.
Let me know what you think. The pictures were hard to get, but the close up at the bottom is really right on with color and tone. It glows.
Love it.
So, I have a post for tomorrow that is all about some one new in our home, but I don't want to mix them so stay tuned!
Off to do a dance of joy now...
huzzah!
Here is the quote that inspired me to just do it:

***
Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea: Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon. Roads go ever ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar, Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the halls of stone Look at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known.
J.R.R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973)

Here is the quote that was just for my inner self while working:

Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the un-lived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
